Reliability Assessment and Optimization of Interdependent Energy and Chemical Networks

Sector coupling entails the integration of energy end-use and supply sectors, e.g. the electricity generation, natural gas consumption, and synthetic fuel supply. It can enhance the flexibility and efficiency of the energy system as well as its adequacy and reliability. In addition, sector coupling can foster an efficient accommodation of variable renewables and economy-wide decarbonization.

To unlock the full potential of sector coupling, we adopt an integrated approach to energy system modeling to account for cross-sector dependencies and optimize the investments and operations of the existing and new technologies.
