Swiss electricity system study in Tages-Anzeiger
Last week, our study made it to the Swiss news in the Tages-Anzeiger. Ambra Van Liedekerke, Marius Schwarz, and Blazhe Gjorgiev compared different roadmaps for the Swiss electricity system with the "Business as usual" scenario of the Energy Perspectives 2050+ using Nexus-e, an ETH energy system model.
The study highlights that the analyzed scenarios, characterized by a rapid and strong expansion of photovoltaics and large electrification of the heating and mobility sector, are not only feasible but might be economically more advantageous. This is thanks to the new and existing storage options in the Swiss electricity system, which play a key role in the Swiss energy transition.
